Christmas tree for the birds

christmas-tree-for-the-birds-007

We took our Christmas tree down yesterday and today we redecorated it with food for the birds.  We so enjoy watching the birds in our backyard ~ so we left them a little treat!

I hope you are enjoying these days between Christmas and the brand new year that is just ahead!

Sweet blessings to you!

  1. Hi!

I just found you…Do you think they would eat popcorn and cranberries? That’s what my tree is decorated with and I will eventually be putting it outside. If I leave up the garland, do you think critters would come?

    Blessings,
    Elizabeth

  2. That’s a great idea! What a nice treat for the birds. :)

  3. Hi Elizabeth!

Welcome! From what I’ve seen online ~ it looks like birds and squirrels will enjoy the popcorn and cranberries!

Our tree is in view from our kitchen window ~ I can hardly wait to see the birds enjoying their treats!

Blessings to you ~ I hope you can visit again!

  4. Hi Melody!

    Thanks for visiting today!

This is the first time we have decorated our tree for the birds. It was a fun project for my 11 year old and I ~ and I think it looks pretty outside. I will be looking forward to seeing what kinds of birds it will attract. We have such fun watching the birds in our yard!

Sweet blessings ~ come back anytime!

  5. Hi Sharon,
What a great idea! I hope that the birds enjoy it a lot.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. Have a wonderful New Year!

  6. Sharon,

What a wonderful idea! Your birds and squirrels will love the goodies!
I put birdseed out and I have had cardinals, chickadees, yellow finches, carolina wrens, grey titmouse and some doves. I love to listen to them chirp to each other(maybe they are singing praises to their Creator). Yes, even some squirrels !
Thank you for sharing such a good idea.

    Blessings and Happy New Year!
    Miriam

  7. What a neat idea! We put a bird feeder out the other day and so far, no birds! :-( I’m not sure why but hopefully we will get some.

  8. Good Morning Sharon ~

I love your idea for using your Christmas Tree filled with goodies to share with your wildlife. I am sure they all will be very happy.

    Simple blessings for your day!

    Hugs ~
    Teri

  9. Oh, what a lovely idea. I’ve never heard of that before but I think its brilliant. I’ll try to remember that for next year. Really love watching the birds come to the feeders we have in the garden, and to give them a Christmas treat is great.

  10. Hi there, What a wonderful way to bless the birds.
If we had a real Christmas tree I would do that too, in fact if we had any trees in our backyard of the rental we’re in, I’d decorate them. I may just have to pop over to my daughter’s house and decorate her trees.
    Blessings and Happy New Year!

  11. Hi Susan,

I’m hoping some birds will come and enjoy their treats…we’ll see!

I enjoyed visiting with you. :) I hope to be more consistent in my visiting again now that I am not so busy with Christmas!

    New Year’s blessings to you!

  12. Hi Miriam ~

Aren’t the birds so much fun to watch? You have quite a variety of them visiting at your house. I like the thought that maybe they are singing praises to their Creator!

Happy New Year to you too ~ and sweet blessings!
    Sharon

  13. Hi Terri,

I think it took a bit for the birds to find us when we first put our feeders out. Then when they did ~ they came back with their friends!! :)

It is so fun to see all the different birds that come to the feeders!

Happy New Year to you and your family!
    Sharon

  14. Hi Teri,

This is the first time we have done this ~ so it is kind of an experiment to see how it goes! I love looking out the window and seeing it all decorated for the birds!

I hope your day is filled with blessings!

    Happy New Year to you!
    Sharon

  15. Hi Helen ~

My husband mentioned to me that some friends used to do this with their tree after Christmas ~ I didn’t remember that but I loved the idea. So this is the first year for us! I’m hoping some birds will come and enjoy it!

Thanks for coming by to visit. I look forward to visiting with you again!

Blessings to you ~ and Happy New Year!
    Sharon

  16. Hi Noreen ~

    New Year’s blessings to you!

It is fun to see the tree all decorated outside ~ at least for awhile before it goes to the yard recycling. If we attract some birds ~ maybe it’s something I can do on a tree in the yard.

Bird watching is something we have really enjoyed this year.

May the Lord richly bless you and your family in the new year!

    Sharon

  17. That is very sweet, Sharon. Wishing you a Blessed and Happy New Year ~

  18. What a brilliant idea ~ it must be delightful to watch the birds and squirrels come along to eat :o )

Blessings to you as the new year unfolds!

  19. Thank you Cathy ~ May the Lord richly bless you this new year too!

    In His Love,
    Sharon

  20. Hi Dallas,

When I looked out this morning ~ I couldn’t see any of the birdseed bagels! Maybe we have some other critters visiting in the night! :)

Sweet blessings to you in this new year!
    Sharon

  21. Sharon, what a lovely idea…so kind to the little birds! You are so thoughtful. xx

  22. Hi Tina ~

It was fun to do and looked so pretty ~ but yesterday I couldn’t see any bagels left! I think something came in the night and carried them all away! All that’s left is some soggy popcorn! So it has been a little disappointing! Oh well, we did try to feed the birds! :)

Sweet blessings to you in the New Year!
    Sharon
