that makes happiness.”

  1. Good Morning Sharon ~

    Such a nice quote!

As I get older, I want to take the time to enjoy the small
things. The more I have, the less time I have to just sit
quietly and be able to take in all the special things around
    me.
~ time spent reading and studying my bible ~
~ spending time with loved ones ~
    ~ pretty music ~
    ~ a cup of tea ~
    ~ listening to birdsong ~
~ reading an inspirational book ~
~ stroll around the garden ~
~ enjoy my pretty flowers and plants ~
    ~ a pretty candle ~

I want to live in peace and be content with what I have.
I want to live a simple life. ~ to spend my time as the Lord
    would have me ~

Have a nice weekend and “ENJOY!”

    Hugs ~
    Teri

  2. Sharon,

I really appreciated the quote and your flowers are just gorgeous ~ what are they called?

As I grow older, I am trying to take time to enjoy all the simple blessings of everyday life and to seek the Lord’s guidance more and more.

    To Teri,

I really enjoy each and every thing you mentioned so I guess that makes the 3 of us, *kindred spirits* :o)

  3. Sharon,

I loved that quote! And what a beautiful picture…are they Californian poppies? We have some here in Scotland!

    Love, Tina xxx

  4. Dear Teri,

Thank you so much for sharing ~ I enjoyed reading all of the lovely things you listed to enjoy!! It makes me want to sit down and enjoy some of those things too! I have had a busy morning. My husband has shopping to do on Friday mornings and he likes me to come along and help him and keep him company! It is nice for me as well ~ but now it is the afternoon and I have not accomplished very much at home!

I am striving for much more simplicity in my life and I am desiring to be someone who is filled with contentment and peace. I want to enjoy the many blessings I already have!

It is wonderful to find others who are such *kindred spirits*!

I hope you are enjoying a lovely day ~ hope to “talk” to you soon!

    Blessings,

    Sharon

  5. Dear Dallas,

I love to find quotes that make me stop and think as this one did!!

As for the flowers, I knew they were a type of poppy but I wasn’t exactly sure what kind they were until Tina mentioned California poppies. I looked them up online and that is what they are!! I really do enjoy them and they grow and look lovely without any special care or attention at all! That makes them a very good flower for me!

I think it’s true, the older you get, the more you really realize just how many blessing you already have and you want to make the most of everything! I really wish I had learned some lessons a little sooner!

I hope the rest of your day is lovely and your weekend as well. Your kindness and friendship is such a blessing!

    Blessings,

    Sharon

  6. Dear Tina,

I enjoyed the quote when I read it because I know how much I need to practice just that ~ enjoying much more than wanting more!! Don’t we all have so many wonderful blessings that we can enjoy each day?

Thank you for asking about the poppies ~ I wasn’t sure what kind of poppies they were until I looked up the California poppies that you mentioned! And yes, that is what they are! I really do enjoy them. Do you have any growing in your gardens? They are so pretty and colorful and really grow so wonderfully without any care from me at all!

Thank you so much for visiting ~ I always enjoy it so much ~ you are always so sweet!

    Hugs and blessings,

    Sharon

  7. The California Poppies are lovely and I have seen them growing wildly here, so pretty.

The sentiment, a favorite. I too am working on the simplicity of life. It sure does go against the trends these days.

I pray you are enjoying our sunshine.

    Deby

  8. Dear Deby,

The California poppies do seem to grow so easily so I could see them as a flower that would be growing wildly around the area. I think the ones I have were from a wildflower seed mixture.

I am so encouraged when I hear of others that are working on a more simple and contented life. But yes, oftentimes it does feel as if you are going against the trends.

I am enjoying this sunshine so very much ~ I think this weekend is supposed to be quite warm and lovely too!

Have a blessed weekend and enjoy the sun,

    Sharon

  9. Dear Sharon,
Thank you for sharing your beautiful flowers and the wonderful quote. Oh, how true that is!!!

I am praying the Lord will help me enjoy what I have and not be discontent. I began reading the book I mentioned, The Quest for Meekness and Quietness of Spirit by Matthew Henry, and I am praying for the Lord to help me as I need to grow so much in this area. I, too, am quiet on the outside, but the Lord knows my heart and I am trusting in Him to help me! Isn’t it wonderful that we do not have to rely on our own strength, but can depend upon Him to help us. I can do nothing apart from Him!

I am so thankful that you share your thoughts and scriptures to encourage us to grow closer to the Lord and more like Him!!!!

    The Lord bless you!
    Paula

  10. Dear Paula,

The Lord has blessed us both with so many wonderful things to enjoy! I always enjoy the glimpses you give of your home and gardens! They must bring pleasure to you each and every day!

I looked online at the library to see if they had the book you mentioned but I couldn’t find it ~ I will try and see if I can find a copy to purchase. It does sound like a book that I would enjoy.

I too want the Lord to help me enjoy all that I have and to be content. He will continue to grow and change us and what an encouragement that is!

    Have a wonderful Lord’s day!

May He bless you my dear friend,

    Sharon
