Time for cardmaking

The Women’s ministry at our church had a card making night! They had 3 different styles made up for us and we were able to make one of each design. I think the cards they picked were lovely and they were a lot of fun for us all to make!

I do enjoy making and sending handmade cards! Now I have some new additions to my blessing basket ~ how exciting!

I hope all of you have a blessed and restful weekend with your loved ones!

  3. Dear Terri,

Thank you! I think the one with the flowers was the most enjoyable to make although in the end I thought maybe I went a little overboard on the number of flowers I used!! My daughter made hers using one large multi colored flower and one small flower and I think it had a nice simple look to it! It was fun!

I hope your weekend is blessed,

    Sharon

  4. Dear Teri,

I hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend too ~ filled with the things that you hold dear!

Thank you for your compliments on the cards! They were fun to make, especially since we had a sample to go by!

This morning we are planning to go to the lavender festival ~ I am looking forward to it! Then we need to come home and do some work in our yard! We have been enjoying some beautiful sunny weather!

    Blessings to you,

    Sharon

  5. Dear Sharon ~

Did you know that July 12th is Simplicity Day? It is
celebrated on the birthday of Henry David Thoreau,
this reminds us to simplify our lives.

~ Happy Simplicity Day ~ to you and yours!

Enjoy your day at the Lavender Festival! It is such a
perfect way to celebrate ~ Simplicity Day ~ with your
    family!

I just read about this ~ so it is new to me, but it sure
    sounds nice.

    Hugs ~
    Teri

  6. Dear Teri,

Thanks for letting me know ~ I didn’t know about it!

I’m looking forward to enjoying a simple day at the farm!

Hope your day is filled with simplicity and loveliness!

    Hugs,

    Sharon

  7. I really like the flower card! Have you thought about making batches of them and selling them? I have an online business and I am always looking for pretty Thank You cards to send in my packages. There is very little to choose from in our tiny town and they are not always appropriate.

That is interesting about Simplicity Day. I found one of Henry David Thoreau’s books at a library sale and enjoyed reading it while I waited every week for my daughter to finish ballet class. I found myself transformed into a quieter, simpler place while I was sitting in my car reading!

I have been making a point to do something everyday that I wouldn’t normally do towards my goal of simplifying my life. I don’t always accomplish that, but I feel better knowing I am at least working towards something positive.

  8. Sharon,

These cards are lovely and to me, anything handmade always has extra-special meaning :o)

I hadn’t heard of *Simplicity Day* either, but then maybe it’s an American celebration? A wonderful idea nonetheless :o)

    Have a wonderful Lord’s Day!

  9. Dear Kris,

It would be kind of fun to make cards to sell although I don’t know how easy it would be to come up with such cute designs like they had for us to do last night! I enjoyed making the flower one!

I think your idea of making a point to do something everyday that helps in your goal of simplifying is excellent!! I think I made a positive step in that direction today! We went to the lavender festival and there were vendors selling lovely things, the gift shop, lavender plants to buy as well as u-pick lavender! I think it’s fun to buy something at these kinds of events but since I have been thinking and writing about being content, I decided that I wanted to be able to just go to things like this and enjoy the experience rather than having to buy something to make the day feel complete! And I think it felt freeing and more simple to do this! I think it would be great if you would do a post on this subject and share some of the things that you are doing in this area! It would be quite encouraging and helpful I’m sure! I think it’s great what you are doing even if it doesn’t happen every day!!

    Blessings,

    Sharon

  10. Dear Dallas,

I agree ~ I think handmade things are very special!

I’m not sure where the idea of Simplicity Day came from ~ but my goal is to make everyday a more simple day! That would be so lovely!! I’ll keep pressing on in this!

I hope you have a blessed Sunday,

    Sharon

  11. Dear Kalianne,

Thank you so much for the compliment on the cards ~ they were fun to make! I made up a blessing basket a short time back to keep cards and postage stamps, etc. so they would be ready to send out so now I added these cards to it!

I hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend,

    Sharon
