I always seem to need reminding

When I got up yesterday morning I was reminded of something my husband had said to me and that I had posted on when I first started my blog.  I decided to re-post parts of it ~ because I really need to be reminded of it!

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” John 10:27 (KJV)

The other night after we went to bed, my husband said to me, “Did you hear His voice today?” Instantly, my thoughts wandered back over the course of my day and I had to wonder if I had really heard His voice. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice”. How can I really follow Him in the course of my day if I am not really hearing Him speak to me; if I am not quieting myself down and taking the time to hear from Him.

I love these words from Have Thine Own Way, Lord, by Adelaide A. Pollard:

“Have Thine own way, Lord!

Have Thine own way!

Hold o’er my being absolute sway!

Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see

Christ only, always, living in me!”

I have been encouraged by these words for myself, that Christ would be seen in my life and in all that I say and do. That it would be Him and not me. But as much as I desire this, it will not just happen. I must come away with Him. I need to find that quiet spot where I can quiet my heart from all of life’s distractions and listen, and hear, and follow Him today…tomorrow…and everyday. I want to seek Him until I find Him.

Have you heard His voice today?

Oh, how I realize that if I am not hearing His voice each day ~ I will go my own way ~ and I know what a scary thing that is!  But here is such wonderful encouragement for us to press on ~

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV)

May my days be filled with more of Him and less of me!

Sweet blessings to you all!

  1. Hi Sharon!
What a beautiful post. It reminds me of Gumbo Lily’s lambs that are coming into the world right now. I’m so glad I’m a sheep.

  2. How beautiful! I read your post early this morning and I can not imagine a better way to start my day. Would you mind if I used this sometime in a lesson? I also wanted to let you know, we made a batch of chocolate chip cookies yesterday from our frozed cookie dough. They turned out great. God Bless.

  3. I need to start proofreading my comments. I don’t think even as far back in the mountains as I come from there is such a word as frozed. Have a great day!

  4. Good Morning Sharon ~

Thank you so much for sharing! Thank you for the reminder…encouragement…and inspiration! Blessings for you day!

    Hugs ~
    Teri
